The University of Applied Sciences Fulda in Germany is inviting scholars to contribute to the international conference Thinking Beyond Crisis: Social Contracts and Democracy in Times of the Anthropocene, which will take place from December 16 to 18, 2025, at the University of Applied Sciences Fulda, Fulda, Germany.

The conference aims to connect two pressing debates in the social sciences and humanities: the crisis of liberal democracy and the challenges of the Anthropocene. It will provide a platform for exploring how modern political and social thought can respond to global environmental and societal transformations.

Contributions are welcome from a wide range of disciplines including philosophy, political science, sociology, geography, law, and environmental studies. Participants are encouraged to examine how ideas of democracy, governance, and social contracts can be reimagined in a time of crisis and planetary change.

Abstracts of 300 to 500 words should be submitted by October 18, 2025, to muriel.wenzel@sk.hs-fulda.de.
